Your issued proximity card is a manual backup for the automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system and should be used if:
- the ANPR system is not working for any reason
- you are not using your notified vehicle or
- you are a category of user where entry to the car park is restricted to card use only.
If you need to gain access to your nominated car park using the proximity card, place it close to the proximity card symbol which is located on the entry and exit barrier machinery. Do not insert the card into the machine.
Please note if your proximity card is not available at the time of entry, the daily car parking charge will need to be paid and we will not issue you with a refund.
Proximity card fails to work at the car park barrier
If your proximity card fails to work at the entrance and/or exit barrier, check what error message appears in the yellow window of the entrance and exit machine.
‘Not valid’ message
If the message displayed is ‘Not valid’, this usually means that you haven't held the season ticket steady enough or long enough on the barrier machine sensor for the system to recognise it.
Please ensure you hold the ticket steady for four or five seconds against the sensor on the barrier machine. The symbol is the same as the one on the bottom of the ticket.
‘Bad I/O’ message
If the message shows ‘Bad I / O’, it means the system did not record the last time you entered or exited the car park.
If this message appears when entering, take a paper ticket to open the barriers and the system will reset itself when you exit. Please note you do not need to retain the paper ticket.
If this message appears when exiting, press the ‘Help’ button and await assistance from a member of the control room staff.
‘Car park full’ message
If the car park is full, please contact the car park control room on 01483 743 384.
If you require assistance, turn on your hazard lights to warn other motorists that there is a problem, press the ‘Help’ button and await assistance from a member of the control room staff.
