Step one

Please tell us about your change of address if you have already moved in or are going to move soon. Once you have registered with us, we will send your business rates bill showing a breakdown of your payments.

Step two

Once your account has been set up, you will be sent a business rates bill. The bill will show your Business Rates account number, your rateable value and a breakdown of your payments for the current financial year.

When it arrives, please check the following are correct:

  • name of the business
  • address of the property liable for business rates
  • reductions have been applied (if awarded)
  • total amount you owe
  • instalment dates and amounts
  • your payment method

Remember: If you apply to claim a business rates reduction after receiving a bill, you will still have to pay the full amount on your bill until we make a decision. If we do award the reduction, you will be sent an amended bill.

Step three

We would recommend paying by direct debit as it is the safest and most convenient way to pay, however other options are available.

Whichever method you choose, you will need your business rates account number which can be found on your bill.

Step four

Your business rates bill will show any reductions that have been applied to your account. If a reduction you believe you are eligible for is not shown you can find out more and apply for a reduction online.

Step five

If you register or sign in to your online account you can add the business rates service to view your business rates account online.

There are many benefits to viewing your account which include viewing previous payments made and signing up for paperless billing.

Step six

You will need to let us know about any changes that affect your business rates account as soon as possible so we can make sure your account is up to date. If a change is made which affects your account a new bill will be issued to you.
