Many of Woking's villages are blessed with historic and beautiful churches, a few of which are mentioned briefly here.
St Nicholas' Church
St Nicholas' Church in Pyrford has hardly altered since it was built in about 1140. The bell tower is 15th Century, and the porch and vestry were added later, but more recent alterations have revealed older features, such as the wall paintings and consecration crosses.

St Peter's Church
A Grade 1 listed building, St Peter's Church near the end of Old Woking High Street dates from the early 12th century, with the upper part of the tower having been added around 1450. There is Medieval ironwork on the original Norman west door.
A recent dendrochronological analysis of the door has established that it was constructed in the reign of Henry I and is, therefore, the oldest door in Surrey. The four planks forming the door have come from a single tree which was more than 270 years old when it was felled.

St Mary's Church
The earliest part of St Mary's Church in Horsell dates from the mid 12th century, although major alterations were made when the tower was added around 100 years later. The chapel was rebuilt in the mid 15th century, owing to its ruinous condition, and later that century the south aisle was added. Church Hill is a conservation area and the church is a listed building, together with two of the tombs in the churchyard which date from the 18th century.
