You can apply for someone you trust to vote on your behalf (known as a 'proxy'). Emergency proxy applications can be made up until 5pm on the day of the election.
Who can apply for an emergency proxy vote
You can apply for an emergency proxy vote, if you:
- have suffered a medical emergency which means you can longer vote in person
- you have lost your photo ID or voter authority certificate
- your occupation, service or employment prevents you from voting in person. For example, you are required to work away on the day of the election.
The emergency situation must have occurred after 5pm, six working days before the election.
