How to claim your dog if it has strayed

Dog owners are responsible for arranging collection of their dog(s).

Before you’re able to re-claim your dog, you must pay our stray dog collection charges. After payment has been received, you can arrange a time to collect your dog. Payments are made over the phone using a debit or credit card.

Phone: 03444 828 300

The stray dog claiming service is available from 8.30am to 5pm, seven days a week.

Collecting you dog

Before collecting your dog, you will need to provide identification, such as driver’s licence or utility bill and reasonable proof of ownership of the dog. Ownership proof can include a vet bill, microchip number, vaccination certificate, etc.

Paying stray dog fees

Payment of your owed fees and proof of ownership and address must be received within seven days from date the dog was collected by SDK. If the dog is not claimed within seven days, it will be re-homed and will become the property of the new owner.

If your dog is collected by SDK outside of the standard office hours, and the owner can be identified and contacted, SDK can provide the details needed for an online payment to be made via the Woking Borough Council website. This will stop your dog being taken to kennels and reduce the amount payable. Payment is required within 20 minutes of collection.
