A person who takes possession of a stray dog has a legal duty to return the dog to its owner or report it to the local council.
In certain circumstances, it may be possible for the finder to retain the dog until it is collected by its owner. This option can be discussed with SDK by phoning 03444 828 320.
This will include a home check and service of a notice by SDK with your agreement to keep the dog for at least one month.
If at any time the dog is claimed by its rightful owner, it must be returned to them.
