Pay your rent

To make a payment you will need your payment reference number, which can be found on any letters that we have sent to you.

Your reference number starts with ‘50’ and contains 11 numbers.

If you are struggling to afford your rent and service charges, please let us know as soon as possible. If we’re aware of your situation, we can give you advice and help you manage any rent arrears

Pay by direct debit

The quickest and easiest way to pay is by direct debit.

When signing up for a direct debit, you can choose preferred payment frequency – fortnightly or monthly and, if you pay monthly, you can also choose your preferred payment date.

The direct debit payment options are:

  • every two weeks on a Friday, or
  • monthly on the 1st, 10th or 20th of each month.

Download a direct debit form

You must print, sign and return your completed direct debit form to us. All instructions are listed on the form.

You can also return your completed form via email to: housingincome@woking.gov.uk

Please note: we cannot accept direct debits for leaseholders or bed and breakfast charges.

You can pay online via the Councils 24 hour secure internet payments service using your Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Electron, Solo or Maestro card.

Stay vigilant and scam aware. We have received reports of scammers impersonating council officers and requesting rent payment over the phone. Our Rental Income Officers do contact residents by phone, email and in person, however, these officers can prove their identities and reassure tenants. If the call seems suspicious, ask the caller to verify information only your landlord would know such as the start date of your tenancy, payment reference number or your tenancy/personal information. If you're not happy with the response, end the call and contact the council.

Standing order

To set up a standing order, you'll need to contact your bank or building society to pay by this method. You will need to ensure that the instalment amounts are paid in full and made on or before the instalment due dates listed on your bill.

To change your instalment amounts, you will have to contact your bank or building society.

If you choose to pay by this method, please let us know so we can update our records.
