Plans must be drawn in a scale of 1:100. Alternative scales are accepted, if we’ve received an application in writing and agreed the request.
Regulations approved by the government state that plans should show:
- the extent of the boundary of the building (if relevant), and any external and internal walls of the building and, if different, the perimeter of the premises
- access routes in and out of the premises
- the location of escape routes if different from the access routes in and out
- if the premises are to be used for more than one existing licensable activity, the area for each activity
- where alcohol is supplied and the locations where alcohol is consumed
- any structure which may interfere with any persons use of exits or escape routes
- if there is a stage or raised area, the location of these and their height from the floor
- if there are any steps, stairs, elevators or lifts, and their locations
- the location of any toilets
- the location of any fire fighting equipment and any other safety equipment
- the location of any kitchen.
The plan may also include a key which refers to the above by means of a symbol.
How the plans should be submitted to us
There is no requirement to have plans professionally drawn. What is important is that they are accurate and meet the requirements referred to above.
