Dementia friendly handyperson service

Most people with dementia wish to remain in their homes for as long as possible. However as their condition progresses, they may find undertaking everyday tasks more difficult. By adding equipment and making adaptations to their home, this can help someone with dementia to live independently for longer.

We recognise the importance of being able to stay safe at home and offer a dementia friendly handyperson service. The handyperson, who has received specialist ‘dementia friend ’ training, can install free of charge:

  • blue contrast grab rails
  • blue contrast toilet seat and lid
  • internal door signs, such as indicating bathroom, toilet or bedroom
  • blue contrast mirror.

For a small extra charge, the handyperson can also paint a contrasting colour around an internal door frame.
