With the delayed Victoria Way highway improvements nearing completion, a programme of carriageway resurfacing works will begin on Friday 11 August 2023, benefiting highway users and pedestrians.
To facilitate these works, which includes reinstating the junction between Church Street West and Victoria Way. a series of overnight highway closures are necessary.
The overnight closures outlined below will start from 7pm and finish by 6am unless otherwise stated.
- Friday 11 August
Victoria Way northbound Forge End junction to and including Lockfield Drive junction. - Monday 14 August
Victoria Way northbound Victoria Arch to and including Goldsworth Road junction. - Tuesday 15 August
Victoria Way southbound right-hand turn lane to Forge End and Lockfield Drive junction. It is necessary to close the spiral exit from Victoria Place Car Park during this phase of works. Drivers should exit using the main vehicle exit only. - Wednesday 16 August (12.00am to 5.30am)
Victoria Way southbound junction with High Street to Victoria Arch (vehicle access to Chapel Street maintained). - Wednesday 16 August to Friday 18 August
Forge End and Church Street West between Forge End and Victoria Way. - Monday 21 August and Tuesday 22 August
Church Street West between Forge End and Goldsworth Road.
During these works signed diversion routes will be in place. Bus routes remain unaffected.
It is anticipated that the Victoria Way northbound carriageway will reopen with lane closures from Tuesday 15 August, with all improvement works completed by early October.
Once these phases, and subsequent traffic signal commissioning are complete, highway users and pedestrians will benefit from improved footpaths, new highway drainage and street light infrastructure, in addition to a new permanent pedestrian crossing.
We would like to thank local businesses, road users and residents for their patience during these improvement works.
Please note, due to weather and progress, all works are subject to change.
