Any person on the electoral register can apply for a postal vote.
As an alternative to postal voting, you can appoint someone to vote on your behalf. This is called proxy voting.
The deadline for postal applications to be received by the elections office is 5pm, 11 working days before an election.
If you already have a postal vote and wish to change to a proxy vote you must tell us by 5pm, 11 working days before the poll.
The deadline for new proxy applications must be received by our elections services team by 5pm, six working days before the election.
If you would like to apply for a postal or proxy vote, you are requested to provide copies of:
- proof of identification such as passport or driving licence
- proof of residence at the property such as utility bill and bank statement.
The submission of these documents allows us to verify your identify and prevent electoral fraud.
