Woking Borough Council in exercise of its powers under section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police hereby makes the following Order:
- In this Order “motor vehicle” has the same meaning as in section 136 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and includes a motor cycle.
- No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed or ride or cause to be ridden any pedal bicycle or tricycle on Sunday 22 September 2024 between 09:00hrs and 17:00hrs on the length of Commercial Way from the pedestrianised part to Leaders Estate & Letting Agent (63 to 46 Commercial Way, GU21 6HW).
- Nothing in Article 2 of this Order shall apply so as to prevent any person from causing a motor vehicle to proceed in the length of road specified in that Article, if the vehicle is being used: (a) for the laying, erection, alteration or repair in or adjacent to that length of road of any sewer or of any main, pipe, or apparatus for the supply of gas, water or electricity or of any telecommunication apparatus as defined in paragraph 1(1) of the Telecommunications Code contained in Schedule 2 to the Telecommunications Act 1984; (b) For fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes; (c) In the service of a local authority in pursuance of statutory powers or duties.
- This Order shall come into operation on the 22nd September 2024, and may be cited as the Borough of Woking (Commercial Way, Woking) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving) Order 2024.
