All Hackney Carriage taxis and Private Hire vehicles must pass an inspection carried out by an authorised mechanic before a vehicle can be licensed.
Inspection frequency
If a vehicle is more than three years old when first licensed or renewed it will require two vehicle inspections per year – once as part of the licensing process, and once again six months later.
When you renew your vehicle licence, you will have to present the inspection certificate that you received from your most recent six-monthly inspection plus a current valid inspection. Failure to present these inspection certificates may delay the renewal process and incur additional surcharges.
