Street name plates: new and existing

New street name plates

We’re responsible for providing and fitting street name plates in suitable positions. In the case of a new development, the developer is responsible for the erection of name plates which must follow our specifications.

Existing street name plates

We’re also responsible for repair and maintenance of existing street name plates on public and adopted roads within the borough. This can be as a result of accidental damage, vandalism or normal wear and tear.

Private roads

It is the responsibility of the private landowner to maintain and replace street name plates on private and unadopted roads.

However, we are able to supply and instal name plates at a cost on behalf of landowners.

If you do not know who owns the private land, you can search the Land Registry records online to find out.
