Civic Offices closures

Over the festive period, Woking Borough Council’s Civic Offices and customer services phoneline for non-essential services will be closed from Monday 26 December until Monday 2 January. Whilst the offices are closed, essential services will continue over the festive period.

Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday 3 January.

Centres for the community

Parkview centre for the community

Parkview centre for the community will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 23 December to Tuesday 27 December. The centre will re-open at 9.30am on Tuesday 3 January.

During the closure period, the community warm hub will be open from 9.30am to 4pm on Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 December.

St Mary’s centre for the community

St Mary’s centre for the community will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 23 December until Monday 2 January. The centre will re-open at 9.30am on Tuesday 3 January.

During the closure period, the community warm hub and café will be open from 9.30am to 3.30pm, Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 December.

Special opening times apply on Thursday 29 December for day guests who have pre-booked a hot lunch. Advance booking is required.

The Vyne centre for the community

The Vyne centre for the community will be closed from 4.30pm on Friday 23 December until Wednesday 4 January. The centre will re-open at 9.30am on Thursday 5 January.

Special opening times will apply on Tuesday 3 January for day care services, and Thursday 29 December for maternity and baby weighing. Visitors are requested to use the centre's side entrance on these dates.

Moorcroft centre for the community

Moorcroft centre for the community will be closed from 4pm on Friday 23 December until Monday 3 January. The centre will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 3 January.

Community meals service

The community meals service will remain open during the Christmas period.

Our friendly staff will be making deliveries every day, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. At the same time, we will also check the customer’s welfare and safety.

Housing – council tenants and leaseholders

We are operating an emergency out of hours service only from 5pm on Friday 23 December 2022 until 9am on Tuesday 3 January 2023.

During this time, please call 0300 373 0373 and select 'option 1' to raise any urgent/emergency repairs. 

Non-urgent repairs can be requested online.

Any other urgent housing matters can be reported by calling 0300 373 0373 and selecting 'option 4'.

If you suspect a gas leak, you must immediately call the Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Waste and recycling – collections 

The following waste collections will be collected one day later than usual over the festive period:

  • refuse / general waste
  • recycling
  • food waste
  • garden waste
  • clinical waste.

For example, if your fortnightly collection usually falls on Monday 26 December, it will be collected on Tuesday 27 December. 

Normal collection days will re-start from Monday 2 January 2023.

Bulky waste collections will be suspended between Christmas and New Year, and restart on Monday 2 January 2023.

Waste and recycling – Christmas tree recycling

If you’re a garden waste customer, you can cut up your tree and place in your garden waste bin for collection.

Christmas trees can be taken to your local community recycling centre (run by Surrey County Council). Martyrs Lane community recycling centre is located within the borough.
