Civic Offices closures

Over the festive period, Woking Borough Council’s Civic Offices will be closed from 4.45pm, Tuesday 24 December 2024 until 9am, Thursday 2 January 2025.

The customer services phone line for non-essential services will be closed from 1pm, Tuesday 24 December 2024 until 9am, Thursday 2 January 2025.

Whilst the offices are closed, essential services will continue over the festive period.

Housing - council tenants and leaseholders

From 5pm, Tuesday 24 December 2024 until 9am, Thursday 2 January 2025, housing services will be operating an emergency out of hours service only.

Residents needing to report emergency repairs can do so by calling 0300 373 0373, option 1.

Non-emergency repairs can be reported online.

If you suspect a gas leak, you must immediately call the Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Residents wishing to make rent payments can do so by phoning 0300 373 0373, option 2.

Any other urgent tenancy matters can be reported by phoning 0300 373 0373, option 4.

Non-urgent tenancy matters can be reported online or contact the Housing Service at Housing@woking.gov.uk and you will be responded to after 2 January 2025.

Homelessness and housing options

Those that are homeless or who have become homeless due to an emergency can call 020 3701 3590.

If you are concerned about somebody you believe to be sleeping rough, please report this via StreetLink.

Community meals service

The community meals service will remain open during the festive period.

Our friendly staff will be making deliveries every day, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. At the same time, we will also check the customer’s welfare and safety.

Waste and recycling collections 

Joint Waste Solutions is making changes to waste and recycling collection days during this period.

To ensure your waste and recycling is collected smoothly during this busy period, please ensure your bin(s) are presented by 6am on the new collection day outlined below:

Council managed car parks

Our car parks remain open as normal.

Free parking is available in car parks we manage on Wednesday 25 December (from midnight to midnight).

Christmas tree recycling

Garden waste subscribers can recycle their real Christmas trees in their kerbside collection. We kindly ask you remove all decorations and lights, chop it into smaller pieces and place in your garden waste bin.

Trees can also be taken to Woking’s community recycling centre (CRC) at Martyr’s Lane. 

Leisure and sports facilities opening hours

Freedom Leisure have changed their opening times over the festive period.

Woking Leisure Centre, Pool in the Park, Eastwood Leisure Centre and Woking Sportsbox will be closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
