Council premises and the easing of COVID-19 restrictions

Date:

Tuesday, 20 July, 2021

From Monday 19 July, the legal requirement to wear a face covering in enclosed public spaces ended in England.

However, people are advised and recommended to continue wearing masks in crowded areas, such as public transport and shopping centres.

In our leisure facilities and shopping centres, the wearing of face coverings is strongly encouraged, but will no longer be enforced. One way systems and external barriers have been removed, however, sanitiser stations, Perspex screening and enhanced cleaning will remain in place.

Individual retail shops and commercial outlets will have their own policies on face coverings. You may be asked wear a face covering before entering. One way systems and face coverings may still be required in other parts of the UK and on public transport.

Council officers will continue to monitor the situation and may be altered or reversed if necessary.
