Garden waste update: collections to restart on Monday 2 August

Date:

Friday, 30 July, 2021

From Monday 2 August, garden waste collections in Woking will restart. Please leave your bin out on your usual collection day.

While Joint Waste Solutions is using its limited resources as effectively as it can to minimise disruption, it continues to experience staffing issues and cannot always fully staff all of its rounds. Joint Waste Solutions is working hard to ensure all collections are made, but in some cases if it has missed your bin it may not be able to return until the next collection, and at times not all food waste will be recycled.

It does not have the capacity to collect additional garden waste that does not fit into your garden waste bin. Extra garden waste can be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre for free. Details about the centres are on the Surrey County Council website. You might also want to think about composting your garden waste at home. There is lots of information and advice about this on the Surrey Environment Partnership website.

How will I be compensated for the cancelled collections?

Your garden waste subscription will be extended to compensate for missed collections, but please do renew it as normal to ensure there is no break in service.

Joint Waste Solutions apologise for the any inconvenience the driver shortage may be causing and thanks residents for their patience. Find out more about the driver shortage.

If you are self-isolating with symptoms of coronavirus, please read the guide on how to deal with your waste.
