Industrial action in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath could affect bin collections

Date:

Saturday, 23 July, 2022

Joint Waste Solutions, who manage waste services in Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Woking, has been informed that strike action by Amey employees in Elmbridge and Surrey Heath will take place from Monday 1 August to Friday 19 August.

Crews from the Woking depot are not involved in the industrial action.

Due to the partnership approach, this industrial action may also have an impact on services in Woking

The action was voted for by GMB union members in a ballot related to pay settlement negotiations that have been taking place between Amey and the GMB.

Joint Waste Solutions is trying to obtain more specific details of the action to be taken. Currently it is not known what form the action may take, nor the extent of its impact.

They are currently working with Amey on a range of contingency plans and if the strike action goes ahead, it is hoped that it will be possible to minimise the impact on the service residents receive and regret any inconvenience this may cause.

Further information will be provided. Please also share the information with any neighbours who are not online.
