Local voluntary and community groups invited to apply for grants

Date:

Thursday, 1 August, 2019

Local voluntary and community groups are being invited to apply for a grant for the next financial year (April 2020 - March 2021) through the Council’s Community Grants Scheme.

The scheme helps local non-profit making community and voluntary groups, who may be in need of financial assistance, to continue providing services to the public. Grants can support capital funding projects, such as the purchase of equipment, one-off projects or revenue funding such as salaries and rent.

Organisations seeking financial support need to apply via the Council's website.

Last year, organisations awarded support included Age Concern Woking, GASP Motor Project, Maybury and Sheerwater Community Trust, West Surrey Mediation Service and Coram Life Education, who were awarded a grant towards the delivery of life education lessons in local primary schools.

Cllr Ayesha Azad, Woking Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Grants to Voluntary and Community Organisations, said: "I am delighted that we are once again able to offer local voluntary and community groups our support through the Council's Community Grants Scheme.

“Such groups provide a wide range of services that are essential to our community and I would encourage any local voluntary or community group, however large or small, to apply for financial support via this scheme."

Organisations wishing to apply will first need to complete the quick and easy online registration process before they are able to submit an application.

For groups that do not have access to the internet, require assistance in completing the application form or would like further information, please contact the Council's Democratic Services on 01483 743863 or email member.services@woking.gov.uk

The closing date for applications is Friday 6 September 2019.
