Thursday, 18 March, 2021

In accordance with the Planning Act and Regulations, Woking Borough Council submitted all representations received on the main modifications to the Development Plan Document (DPD) to the Inspector on 12 March 2021.

The preparation of the Woking Site Allocations Development Plan Document has evolved over a period of time with public consultation at each stage. The Council published the main modifications to the DPD for public consultation between 18 September 2020 and 14 December 2020. The main modifications are the changes that the Inspector believes will be necessary to make the DPD sound and legally compliant. A total of 448 individuals and organisations submitted representations during the consultation. A Petition signed by 2,739 individuals was also received.

The Inspector will take the representations into account before he submits his final report to the Council. Copies of the representations are on the Council’s website, and can be accessed by visiting www.woking2027.info/comment

Once adopted the Site Allocations DPD will allocate specific sites to enable the delivery of the requirements of the Woking Core Strategy. The document is an important development plan document of the Council to help manage development across the Borough in a sustainable manner. Decisions about what the next steps of the DPD process would be, including the timing of the Inspector’s Final Report is a matter for the Inspector. The Council will notify the public when the Inspector’s Final Report is received.

The Council values the continuous involvement and interest of the community in the preparation of the DPD.
