Who should be crowned Woking's Sports Personality of the Year? Who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding service to sport? Nominate your top performers, players, coaches, schools and groups now for a Sport Woking Award.

This annual event celebrates the Borough’s sporting successes over the past 12 months and this year there are eight categories open to the public to nominate their sporting heroes or groups that inspire them to keep fit.

Award categories open to the public are:

  • Young Sports Personality of the Year
  • Active Community Project of the Year
  • Active Coach, Leader or Instructor of the Year
  • Active School Innovation of the Year
  • Inclusive Sports Award
  • Outstanding Service to Sport
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Sports Personality of the Year

Winners will be recognised and presented with a trophy at the Sport Woking Awards ceremony, which takes place on Thursday 28 November 2019, at the H.G. Wells Conference and Events Centre.

Speaking about the awards, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Cllr Colin Kemp, said:

“This is one of the best events of the year because we get to celebrate and reward the sporting talent and passion that exists within our borough.

“Whether professional or recreational, sport is so important to our health and wellbeing, which is why the Council has invested so heavily in recent years in modern and inclusive sports facilities for the borough.

“We’re grateful to the coaches, volunteers, teachers, parents and sports personalities, who brings these to life, encourage participation and inspire people to lead more active lifestyles. So if you know someone that gives their time to help others, never misses a match or has outperformed all their rivals, make sure you nominate them so that they can receive the recognition they deserve.”

Winners from the Sport Woking Awards will go forward to Active Surrey’s county-level awards, where judges will decide who deserves the honour of being named the best in Surrey.
