Local electors are being invited to make their views known on their local polling station.

The Council is inviting comments from local electors and community groups on the existing polling district and polling place arrangements. Details of the current scheme can be viewed at:

  • Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking GU21 6YL
  • Woking Library, Gloucester Walk, Woking GU21 6EP
  • Byfleet Community Library, High Road, Byfleet KT14 7QN
  • West Byfleet Library, The Corner, West Byfleet KT14 6NY
  • on the Council's website

Elected representatives and local political parties will also be consulted, as will people with expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for people who have different forms of disability.

The deadline for comments is 26 October 2018.

Following any representations received, proposals for the new scheme will be published for comment. Local electors will be able to comment on these revised proposals until 23 November 2018.

Ray Morgan, Woking Borough Council's Chief Executive, said: "Making sure we have voting facilities that are accessible for electors is crucial for our democratic process to work. If any electors or groups can suggest alternative polling station locations, please get in touch so that we can investigate more fully. I would urge as many local residents to get involved and tell us their views on local polling station."

Local electors who wish to make their views known can write to Electoral Services, Woking Borough Council, Civic Offices, Gloucester Square, Woking GU21 6YL. Alternatively, please email elections@woking.gov.uk

The final proposals will be considered by Council at its meeting on 6 December 2018.
