Statement by Woking Borough Council
The Mayor, Members and Officers of Woking Borough Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time.
The flags above the Civic Offices will fly at half-mast as a mark of respect.
Funeral of The Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh's Funeral will take place on Saturday 17 April 2021 at 3pm in St George's Chapel, Windsor. The Funeral Service will begin with a National Minute's Silence at 3pm. The service will be preceded by a ceremonial procession inside the grounds of Windsor Castle.
It will be a Ceremonial Royal Funeral, rather than a State Funeral, in line with The Duke of Edinburgh's own personal wishes.

Book of Condolence
An online Book of Condolence is now available on the royal.uk website for those who wish to send a personal message of condolence.
Floral tributes
The Royal Family have the safety and wellbeing of the public in mind during these challenging times.
Members of the public may wish to consider making a donation to a charity of their choice, or one of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Patronages in memory of His Royal Highness, instead of leaving floral tributes.
Over the course of his life, The Duke of Edinburgh was patron or president of some 992 organisations, with special interests in scientific and technological research and development, industry, the welfare of young people, conservation and the environment and the encouragement of sport.

Places of worship must comply with both the law and COVID-19 restrictions and public health guidance and that wherever possible. Digital technology may be used to record, transmit or livestream acts of worship that faith communities can join virtually.
Cathedral service including prayers for HRH The Duke of Edinburgh
Alongside the rest of the country we were saddened at the death of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
On the eve of his funeral in Windsor, in Guildford Cathedral we will hold an Evening Service which will include prayers of thanksgiving.
Join the Dean and other Cathedral Clergy, with music from the Cathedral Choir, prayers and readings from the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey and the High Sheriff of Surrey, and a homily by The Right Reverend Jo Wells, Bishop of Dorking.
The service will be live streamed and all are invited to join us virtually from 5.30pm on Friday 16 April 2021.
