Following a competitive tender process, Continental Landscapes Ltd, has been awarded the borough’s new street cleaning and grounds maintenance contract.
Under the new contract, one of the council’s largest, Continental Landscapes will be responsible for maintaining public parks, play areas and sports pitches, as well as delivering regular street cleaning and litter collections.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the contract introduces cleaner, greener, environmentally friendly practices such as minimising chemical use, lowering energy consumption and reducing the carbon impact of operations.
Cllr Ellen Nicholson, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Climate Change and Leisure, said: “As well as welcoming our new contractor, Continental Landscapes, I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing contractor, Serco, who has provided 22 years of committed service to Woking.
“Our parks and streets are the heart of our communities, and by partnering with Continental Landscapes, a company that shares our values, we will continue to deliver cost-effective, high-quality environmental services to residents.
“Together, we are investing in a cleaner, greener, more sustainable environment for everyone to enjoy.”
Michelle Maybury, Continental Landscape’s Managing Director, added: “We are thrilled to be awarded the contract to deliver street scene services to residents on behalf of Woking Borough Council. We look forward to working together to achieve the council’s vision for these high profile and essential services.”
