Parkview is a light and bright purpose-built community centre located in the heart of Sheerwater that overlooks open green space and new homes. It is also situated next to the Basingstoke Canal and other community facilities.
The vibrant centre boasts a spacious hall, multipurpose function rooms, office space, a mirrored studio, and free on-site parking.
This self-contained facility is available now for local groups and community interest companies to make their own as part of the councils Community Asset Transfer (CAT) process.
The policy is a key part of the council’s strategy to achieve essential budget savings and focus its resources on core services.
Successful applications must meet specific criteria including:
- delivering sustained valued community assets and enable locally run services to thrive and flourish independent of council funding
- enabling and empower community organisations to directly operate assets and support the growth and development of the third sector
- providing social and economic benefits for the local area, focus on social inclusion and be environmentally considerate.
Cllr Steve Greentree, Woking Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Living Well, said: “The transfer of Parkview presents an exciting opportunity for a local group to be a key part of a transforming community and establish a central hub for local residents.
"Parkview is a valued community asset with highly versatile facilities, offering the successful group the freedom and potential to develop the service offer to the community. We look forward to hearing from interested organisations."
Community and voluntary groups interested in Parkview should visit www.woking.gov.uk/community-asset-transfers to find out more about Community Asset Transfers and the application process.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 5pm, Friday 21 February.
Once approved, the council will then request to review a full business case.
