Civic Offices closures

Over the festive period, Woking Borough Council’s Civic Offices and customer services phone-line for non-essential services will be closed from Friday 22 December 2023 until Tuesday 2 January 2024. Whilst the offices are closed, essential services will continue over the festive period.

Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Centres for the community

Parkview centre for the community

Parkview centre for the community will be closed from 4pm Friday 22 December and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at 9am.

Please note, family services and midwifery services are appointment only. 

St Mary’s centre for the community

St Mary’s centre for the community will be closed from 4pm on Friday 22 December and will re-open at 9.30am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.

Special opening times apply on Wednesday 27 December for regular day guests who have pre-booked lunch. 

The St Marys Café ceases trading on Saturday 23 December, so there will be no café or warm welcome venue during these closure times.

The Vyne centre for the community

The Vyne centre for the community will be closed from 4pm Friday 22 December 2023 and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at 9am.

Moorcroft centre for the community

Moorcroft centre for the community will be closed from 4pm Friday 22 December and will reopen on Tuesday 2 January 2024 at 9am.

Community meals service

The community meals service will remain open during the Christmas period.

Our friendly staff will be making deliveries every day, including Christmas Day and Boxing Day. At the same time, we will also check the customer’s welfare and safety.

Housing – council tenants and leaseholders

From 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 to 8am on Tuesday 2 January 2024, the whole housing service will be operating an emergency out of hours service only.

Residents needing to report emergency repairs can do so by calling 0300 373 0373, option 1.

Non-emergency repairs can be reported online.

If you suspect a gas leak, you must immediately call the Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Residents wishing to make rent payments can do so by phoning 0300 373 0373, option 2.

Any other tenancy matter can be reported by phoning 0300 373 0373, option 4.

Homelessness and housing options

Those that are homeless or who have become homeless due to an emergency can call 020 3701 3590.

Waste and recycling – collections 

The following waste collections will be collected later than usual over the festive period:

  • refuse / general waste
  • recycling
  • food waste
  • garden waste
  • clinical waste.

Normal collection days will restart from Monday 15 January 2024.

Bulky waste collections will be suspended between Christmas and New Year.

Waste and recycling – Christmas tree recycling

If you’re a garden waste customer, you can cut up your tree and place in your garden waste bin for collection.

Christmas trees can be taken to your local community recycling centre (run by Surrey County Council). Martyrs Lane community recycling centre is located within the borough.
